I was as much a writer as a was a scientist and conservationist. I was born to an upper-middle-class lifestyle, but I wanted more. In the end I wrote thirty books, but I was best known for my children’s tales, and especially the Tales of Peter Rabbit. Some say I was inspired by my own pets to write these tales.

Since my passing there have been movies made of my little creatures, something I could never have imagined when I created them. There are many adaptations of Peter Rabbit, some faithful representations of my work, and others stray a bit from the source material. That suits me as I do think I would have loved the new adventures of Peter Rabbit. Somehow the animals are even more naughty than what I had imaged.
